Install or Update on Windows

The dialer doesn't auto-update — it's loaded directly from a folder on your computer. To install for the first time OR update to a new version, follow these steps. The "Select Folder" trick in Step 5 is the part most people get tripped up on.

⚠️ Updating from an older version? Just clicking "Reload" in Chrome is NOT enough — you have to download this new zip and replace your old files first. Step 4 (Remove the old extension) makes this foolproof. Follow all 6 steps.

Download the new extension
  1. If you haven't already, click the green ⬇ Download extension.zip button at the top of this page.
  2. Chrome saves it to your Downloads folder (usually C:\Users\YourName\Downloads\extension.zip).
💡 If a file called extension.zip already exists in Downloads, Chrome saves the new one as extension (1).zip. Delete the older one first so you don't accidentally extract the wrong one.

Extract the zip with Windows "Extract All"
  1. Open File Explorer (press Windows + E).
  2. Go to your Downloads folder.
  3. Right-click on extension.zip.
  4. Choose "Extract All..." from the menu.
  5. A small dialog appears asking where to extract. Accept the default location — it creates a folder right next to the zip.
  6. Make sure "Show extracted files when complete" is checked.
  7. Click Extract.
  8. A new File Explorer window opens showing the extracted folder called extension. Leave this window open — you'll need it in Step 5.
💡 Inside the extracted extension folder you'll see another folder called power-dialer. Don't open it. Chrome needs to point AT that folder in Step 5 — not INTO it.

Open Chrome's Extensions page
  1. In Chrome, click the address bar.
  2. Type chrome://extensions and press Enter.
  3. Top-right corner: confirm Developer mode is ON (the blue toggle).

Remove the OLD Goal Power Dialer (updates only — skip if first install)

Find the existing Goal Power Dialer card. Click Remove. Chrome will ask "Remove Goal Power Dialer?" — click Remove again to confirm.

💡 Your settings DON'T get deleted — counters, saved phone number, and toggle preferences live in Chrome's local storage. They survive the remove.

Load the new extension — watch the "Select Folder" trick
  1. On chrome://extensions, click Load unpacked (top-left).
  2. A Windows "Select Folder" dialog opens. Navigate to your Downloads folder.
  3. You'll see the extension folder you extracted in Step 2.
  4. Double-click the extension folder to go INTO it.

Now your dialog should look like this:

Now the part most people get wrong:

  1. SINGLE-CLICK on power-dialer so it turns blue (highlighted).
  2. Click "Select Folder" at the bottom right.
✅ DO
Single-click power-dialer so it's HIGHLIGHTED in blue, then click Select Folder.
❌ DON'T
Double-click power-dialer — that goes INTO it. Chrome will say "Could not load extension" because it can't find the manifest.
💡 Memory trick: Double-click the OUTER folder to enter it. Single-click the INNER folder, then hit Select. If you accidentally double-click the inner folder, hit the back arrow in the dialog and try again.

When you click Select Folder, the Goal Power Dialer card reappears — showing the new Version 1.31.42 (or whatever the latest is). ✅

Hard-refresh Impact + confirm
  1. Switch to your Impact tab.
  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + R for a hard-refresh.
  3. Check the bottom of your dialer panel — you should see the new version number.
